FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What types of dental specialists do you have at Home Dental Centre?

We have specialists across all major fields: restorative and prosthetic dentistry, endodontics (root canal), periodontics (gum treatment and surgery), orthodontics (braces and aligners), paediatric dentistry, and oral surgery including implants. Our 30+ dentists cover everything from routine fillings to complex full-mouth reconstruction and orthognathic surgery.

  • How much does root canal treatment cost?

Root canal therapy starts from HK$7,000 depending on tooth position and complexity; fillings from HK$850, implants from HK$22,000 and orthodontics from HK$30,000. For the same treatment, Home Dental has general dentists, dentists with postgraduate training and registered specialists — the tiers exist to match case complexity: straightforward cases are well served by a general dentist, while curved canals, limited bone or complex bites go to dentists with the relevant advanced training, reducing the likelihood of complications and remakes. You may also choose the tier you prefer; the assessment will clarify which category your case falls into.

  • Can you treat children under sedation if they're very anxious?

Yes. We offer sedation dentistry for children using intravenous (IV) / MAC sedation. Our Tsuen Wan clinic has a DH-licensed Day Procedure Centre for cases requiring deeper sedation. A paediatric consultation will determine the safest option for your child's age and treatment needs.

  • How long does orthodontic treatment with braces or Invisalign take?

Most orthodontic cases take 12 to 24 months, though simpler alignments may finish sooner and complex cases can extend beyond two years. Treatment duration depends on the severity of misalignment, patient compliance (especially with aligners), and growth factors in younger patients. Your orthodontist will give you a timeline after the initial assessment.

  • What are the risks of wisdom tooth removal?

Common risks include temporary swelling, bruising, and discomfort for a few days. Rare complications can include nerve injury (causing temporary numbness), dry socket, or infection. Our oral surgeons use imaging and careful technique to minimise these risks, and we'll discuss your specific anatomy and any concerns during the consultation.

  • Do you accept dental insurance for specialist treatments?

We do not offer direct billing with insurers, but we provide official receipts and treatment records so you can claim from your insurer directly. Coverage varies by policy, so please confirm with your insurer. Coverage varies widely by insurer and policy, so WhatsApp us your insurance details and the treatment you need—we'll help you check what's covered and handle the paperwork where possible.

  • Can you handle dental emergencies like trauma or severe pain?

Yes. We provide emergency dental treatment for trauma, acute pain, and urgent issues. If you have a dental emergency, call us immediately on +852 3956 9387 or WhatsApp +852 5402 6630. We'll arrange the earliest possible appointment, often same-day, and guide you on what to do in the meantime.
